Sir, - You report (The Irish Times, January 19th) how Judge Harvey Kenny apologised to Mr Thomas Collins for remarks which the judge made to Mr Collins in court the previous week.
Judge Kenny described his own remarks as "inappropriate, unnecessary, and not befitting a judge".
Contrast this with the failure of Judge Carney to apologise to Nora Wall for remarks which he made to her during the course of her trial some months ago.
Is it possible that, in the light of Judge Kenny's correct and decent action, Judge Carney might be moved to do the right thing, even at this late stage? - Yours, etc.,
