Sir, – The role of the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (Niac) is to provide advice on vaccines. The key word here is advice, rather than instruction.
This advice appears to take a protracted amount of deliberation, given available evidence from other countries such as Israel on the improved efficacy of a third dose. With case numbers escalating on a daily basis, the Government should just take the initiative and authorise a third dose for the general population as soon as possible.
