Sir, Congratulations for giving us Neil Jordan's super and scholarly vivisection of a political chameleon last week, But wasn't it a bit cruel of you on Saturday to expose us to the whimpers of the victim, Herr Harris, as he dug himself deeper into his pit?

I might comment further as a film maker if this squabble was about a film, and if I had seen the film in question. But it is not, and I have not. Therefore I will confine myself thusly:

Jordan's critique was that Harris had attacked him for being nationalist and republican, while Harris himself (seemingly in pursuit of financial gain from Hollywood) had been more rabidly nationalist and republican in his own unrealised script. Harris cleverly avoided this point, because he could not answer it.

The evidence provided by Jordan was incontrovertible. Instead, Harris engaged in his customary ad hominem waffle - dressed up in undergrad film cliches - and discredited himself even further.
