Madam, – I could not believe my eyes when I read in your paper that a district justice in Donegal has ordered a man to climb Croagh Patrick and “do the stations” there for insulting a Garda (Home News, September 17th).

While Mayo is a beautiful county and the sights from the Reek are breathtaking, I do not feel it is appropriate for some miscreant to be ordered to climb it as a sort of involuntary penance. Will the next offender in Donegal be ordered to do the stations and fasting on Lough Derg ? – Yours, etc,
