Sir, - In answer to Mr Brian Palmer's letter on his subject on August 15th, may I say that building the replica ship Jeanie Johnston is a very fitting way to commemorate the Famine. What was a well run ship for the time never lost a passenger, and it will add very much to the waterfront of historic Blennerville.

We do need a 50 metre pool urgently, but may I add that an awful lot of money goes into sport - football of all kinds, and golf, for example. Unfortunately, very little is spent on museum projects or preserving fine old buildings. - Yours, etc.,
