GREEN POLICIES

Sir, - I've always suspected that Dermot Lacey had been traumatised by the Green Party success in the 1991 local elections. A car park under Sandymount Green? What on earth is he on about? He ends his letter with a direct quotation. No one in the Greens has ever made such a statement, nor is it contained in any policy document.

It should be noted that Mr Lacey is an enthusiastic supporter of the Eastern Bypass through Sandymount Strand. He also supported the multi storey car park behind the Mansion House and, as a member of the Labour Party, favours incineration as a method of dealing with the waste problem.

The Green Party strongly disagrees with his stance on these issues and we would welcome closer scrutiny of our policies on such matters. Perhaps then we could engage in real debate, a debate based on the facts and not on Mr Lacey's imaginings. - Yours, etc.,

Stella Gardens,
