Madam, - The author of last Saturday's Thinking Anew column said Sunday's feast was "about the celebration of God's intervention in human history".
I always thought God was involved in human history since its creation - or at least the entire Old Testament seemed to think so. To speak of an "intervention" by God (even in Jesus) suggests we somehow had a life of our own on the planet before God dropped in.
In deference to our Jewish brothers and sisters, might we Christians not say that in Jesus we celebrate one more step toward the completion of human history. . .a history that God never left? - Yours etc,.
