Further Covid restrictions

Sir, – I don’t think the chief medical officer Dr Tony Holohan can have any idea of how much people have suffered from the restrictions in the last 18 months.

To talk of imposing restrictions as we move towards winter is more than most of us will be able to tolerate.

And as we have seen while there was maximum compliance during the first lockdown in April 2020, there was not such widespread compliance thereafter.

Most importantly the economy has to get going. We now have to live with Covid-19 and take personal responsibility for places or venues we visit, while adhering to the basic precautions of mask wearing and frequent hand sanitising.

– Yours, etc,
