Fatal Air Corps Crash

Sir, - It was with great sadness that we learned of the tragic accident in Tramore. Over the past 25 years, we have come to experience first-hand the incredible dedication and professionalism of the Air Corps personnel in their efforts to help us procure organs for transplantation. Apart from their professional attitudes and demeanour, the friendly, helpful, cheerful and sensitive way in which they always transported us on these missions of sadness and hope are very much appreciated here at Beaumont Hospital.

On behalf of all the transplant personnel at Beaumont Hospital, and also on behalf of the thousands of patients with kidney, heart and liver failure who are alive today because of these men's sterling and selfless commitment to a job they obviously love, we offer our heartfelt sympathies to the families of Capt Dave O'Flaherty, Capt Mick Baker, Sgt Paddy Mooney and Cpl Niall Byrne. - Yours, etc., David Hickey, Director of Transplantation,

Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9.
