Sir, - Amidst all the negative news one reads daily it was heart warming to come across Dick Grogan's Southern Report (April 13th). Congratulations to local authorities in Cork and Kerry who recognise the benefits of Early Years education.
Young children are full of curiosity about their environment and with encouragement from aware adults and developmentally appropriate resources they are well able to play their part in contributing to a litter-free community. Not only that; their experiences offer opportunities for lifelong learning, enjoyment and a sense of pride in being given responsibility. - Yours, etc.,
Joan Roberts, Co-ordinator, Child Development Project, Hollyhill, Cork.
