Madam, - If, as Frank McDonald says (June 4th), nuclear economics is voodoo, perhaps he would care to explain why it is that there are now more than 400 nuclear power stations in over 30 countries, successfully and economically producing one-sixth of the world's electricity.

And if nuclear power economics is merely smoke and mirrors, how is it that over 30 countries are building or planning to build more reactors? Are they all deluded? Why should Ireland be so different? What does he propose instead to ensure that this country continues to maintain viable energy? - Yours, etc,
