A chara, – Miriam Lord (“Exotic creature with gold buttoned blazer makes an impression at court”, July 25th) described Seán FitzPatrick’s uniform for his day in Dublin District Court as “corporate casual.” But I’m sure the youngster in “branded leisurewear” seated next to her – not to mention the the “well dressed” detectives – could have told her why he chose to wear “black soft leather slip-ons.” Don’t you know how difficult it is to maintain your dignity and stride out, “arms swinging”, when the gardaí at the Bridewell have taken the laces from your shoes?
