Sir, - As a citizen of the Irish Republic and as a PAYE taxpayer, I expect my elected representatives to spend my tax contribution in a way that improves the quality of life for all our citizens.
I would like to remind those public representatives, who are now seeking to use my tax contributions to compensate taxi drivers, that they were elected to serve the public interest and not to ensure their own re-election by the allocation of tax revenue to a self-interested cartel. - Yours, etc.,
