Sir, - Gems can be found in the unexpected places. So it was with Eddie Holt's TV review of February 12th. Amid the media reaction, at times bordering on the hysterical and with woeful understanding of the complexities of decommissioning, his piece was a welcome surprise. No rushing to judgement. No sanctimonious waffle, just a calm, considered reflection on the intractable nature of Northern Ireland politics. Eddie Holt's article should be required reading for students of Irish history and journalism. This is outstanding writing. Teachers, please do take note. While I'm at it, RTE's John Bowman and Miriam O'Callaghan should check this out too. Even they might just learn something! - Yours, etc.,
