Cold comfort in the big freeze

Madam, – Here’s another snowballing incident – this time from leafy Dublin 6 – the Cowper Luas stop.

Between five to seven youths aged between 14 and 16 years pelt a young woman on the opposite platform. She asks them to stop. They continue. I ask them to stop, they continue. Her Luas comes, fortunately, and they pelt the windows with snowballs. I tell them they are cowards so they use up their energy on me. I manage to dodge quite a few by turning sideways in the shelter. I tell them one against seven youths is not fair. They continue. When my Luas comes and I can’t get on at the first two doors, they jeer. I get in at the third door – a snowball follows me in and hits a fellow passenger.

I am 61 years and I was checking up on my 88-year-old mother who lives alone in the vicinity. – Yours, etc,
