Sir, - It is quite clear from Mr Conor Quinn's letter to Mr Fergus Finlay that Mr Finlay was looking for an "ultimate solution" to the problem of QMP's appointment to the Government's divorce campaign (The Irish Times, January 18th).
This was a problem, which according to Mr Finlay's own recent testimony, did not exist, as no decision had been taken to appoint QMR.
Why then was Mr Finlay so worried about a decision to which the outcome was not known? Even with the enhanced view available from the high moral ground, surely Labour are not claiming their advisers to be clairvoyant?
