Sir, - The recent harrowing reports of child neglect by the State in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s have shocked every thinking person.
We trust that the sub human conditions in which thousands of Irish children are still forced to live, without water or basic sanitation, will soon be rectified by the "Five Year National Plan for Travellers" (The Irish Times, March 28th).
Unless urgent action is taken to provide proper accommodation for travellers, we will, in times to come, look back on the closing years of the 20th century as another era of child neglect. - Yours, etc.,
Chairperson,
