Sir, – My heart lifted when I read the front-page headline "Central Bank to curb insurance stealth hikes" (News, July 22nd). Sadly I was in the doldrums again by the time I had read the first paragraph: "However, it stopped short of following the UK in effectively prohibiting providers offering below-cost discounts to lure new customers".
There the Central Bank sits in its glistening tower on the North Wall Quay like a lighthouse in the Bog of Allen, brilliant but absolutely useless. – Yours, etc,
