Sir, - Dr Michael Smith is questioning whether or not Catholic schools should be obliged to teach those who "do not walk in the faith" (The Irish Times, May 19th). The simple answer is that, as long as Catholic schools receive taxpayers' money, they should not be able to refuse any student regardless of faith or the lack of it.
Unless, of course, Dr Smith can prove that Catholic schools do not receive any funds from non-believers. - Yours, etc.,
