Madam, - In your Weekend Review article "Parental Guidance" (Nov 5th), you report mother of three Elaine Hanley as wanting the State "to provide after-school programmes run by qualified people in national schools".
I wonder if Elaine Hanley, software architect with IBM, would welcome 30-plus children in her office each evening after work hours?
Does Ms Hanley realise that my classroom is my "office", that I often have to work after hours, that all my equipment, books, files etc are stored there and that after a day's teaching up to and often over 30 small children, classrooms need to be cleaned for the next day? - Yours, etc,
CATHERINE BOCKETT, Jordanstown, Enfield, Co Meath.
