Sir, – Monica Dolan writes (Letters, April 27th) of the deliberate change of accent affected by those “wishing to be seen as more refined than their former peers”. For completeness, we should probably note that the reverse process is alive and well. At least three of our senior politicians have decided that it is politically advantageous to attempt to camouflage their leafy-suburbs origins. – Yours, etc,
