Sir, – Since Ulster Bank announced its forthcoming closure, I have received a tsunami of correspondence in connection to that closure.
Last week I received a letter about my Ulster Bank credit card. It said, among other things, “Important Reminder: You need to take action on your credit card account”, and in big red lettering, “If you require a credit card choose your new financial provider” and “Close your account”. So I closed it following the instructions online; at least I thought I did.
A few days later I received a new Ulster Bank credit card valid until February 2026.
If Ulster Bank itself does not know that it is closing, it can hardly be surprised if it is causing confusion among its customers. – Yours, etc,
