It is the duration of the non-means-tested payment that is under investigation.
Heritage Hot Spots in last Saturday’s Weekend Review said that the gardens of Marlay House in Dublin were named after the landscape architect Lancelot Capability Brown. In fact, they were designed in the Brownian style of Capability Brown. The error occurred in the editing process.
An article in last Tuesday’s edition on new uses for disused cinemas said that the Volta on Mary Street, opened by James Joyce, was Dublin’s first purpose-built cinema.
The Volta building was originally an ironmongers. Dublin’s first purpose-built cinema was the Phoenix Picture Palace on Ellis Quay which opened in 1916. It closed in 1960.
