An incorrect photograph was used to accompany an article in yesterday’s Opinion Page. The photograph used was that of Klaus Regling of the European Financial Stability Facility; it should have been of Brendan Halligan, who wrote the article.
In a book review in last Saturday’s edition, reference was made to Thomas Jefferson’s estate in South Carolina. His estate, Monticello, was in Virginia.
An article in the edition of December 16th, concerning efforts to change the terms of the promissory notes issued to bail out Anglo Irish Bank, may have suggested that the notes were issued by the European Central Bank (ECB).
The notes were issued by the Irish Government to Anglo Irish and Irish Nationwide Building Society and the interest is paid to the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC). For the ECB, the issue is the financial soundness of the IBRC.
