An editorial in yesterday's edition, concerning the proposed legislation on septic tanks, stated that protesters against the legislation are supported by the Fianna Fáil TD Éamon Ó Cuív.
Mr Ó Cuív has pointed out, and The Irish Timesaccepts, that he is fully in favour of the protection of public health and minimising water pollution. No implication to the contrary was intended. We also accept that his objections to the Water Services Bill are based on the refusal of the Minister to clarify issues arising from the Bill and also on equity grounds.
