An article on Telecom Eireann in the editions of March 20th referred to an undertaking by the Government to reinvest £220 million of the sale proceeds into Telecom Eireann "with the balance going to the company's grossly underfunded pension scheme". The Government's liability to the pension scheme does not reflect on the integrity of the pension scheme. Furthermore, two years ago, principles for the reimbursement of money owing to the scheme were agreed with the Minister for Finance and arrangements to reflect these principles are now operating.
