A young Palestinian was killed by Israeli shooting tonight in Beit Ommar, near the West Bank city of Hebron.
Mr Sawkat Alami (15) was shot in the neck and died at Hebron's Ali hospital, sources said.
His death brings to 477 the number of people killed since Israeli-Palestinian clashes broke out in late September. That total comprises 392 Palestinians, 13 Israeli Arabs, 71 other Israelis and a German.
Earlier today a Palestinian cabinet minister charged that Israel tried to kill with a booby-trapped car an activist of President Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement in the West Bank.
Palestinian security officials said the explosives-laden vehicle was found and taken to police headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah, where it blew up as an Israeli helicopter hovered overhead. There were no casualties.
They did not identify the alleged target of the purported assassination attempt.
The Israeli army, which has said it does not pursue a deliberate policy of assassination but does target Palestinians who plan or carry out attacks, had no comment.
Israel's Channel Onetelevision identified the activist as Mr Nasser Abu Hmeid and said he discovered the explosives and drove his car into the courtyard of the Palestinian Preventive Security headquarters in Ramallah.
Palestinian officials have accused Israel of assassinating more than 20 activists since the uprising began.
