A WOMAN has died following a road collision in Co Antrim yesterday. The crash happened close to the Larne Road roundabout.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The woman, who is yet to be named, was the 24th person to die on the North's roads this year.
Also yesterday, an 18-year-old man was in a critical condition after being involved in a single-vehicle crash near Kenmare, Co Kerry in the early hours.
The young man, who is from the area, was driving between Kenmare and Sneem when his car struck a ditch and overturned near Dunkerron, over a mile from Kenmare town at around 4.15am on Sunday.
An ambulance, the fire service and the gardaí were quickly on the scene, Supt Michael Maher of Killarney Garda station said.
The young man was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was taken to the intensive care unit of Kerry General Hospital in Tralee and his condition was described as critically ill.
Meanwhile yesterday three men were treated in hospital after a stabbing incident at a house in Waterford city.
The houseowner, described by gardaí as a man in his 60s, and two others in their late 20s, were stabbed by a man at the house in Ignatius Street.
It is understood that some of the men had been drinking at the house.
Paramedics and gardaí arrived at the scene shortly before 4pm and the men were taken to Waterford Regional Hospital.
A local source last night said she noticed signs of a disturbance shortly after noon. Gardaí cordoned off the area, while a technical examination and door-to-door enquiries were carried out.
Gardaí did not recover an implement at the scene and nobody has been arrested but they said they are following a definite line of inquiry. Two of the men were released from hospital last night, while a third man would be released later, according to the HSE.
