A new website is inviting artists to build a sculpture on the Internet.
The Iconobloc project asks participants worldwide to submit a design. The sculpture comprises a series of revolving modular elements. Each participant controls a single element or "bloc".
Artists can influence the overall form of the sculpture at www.iconobloc.com by continually moulding their part.
They do so by answering a daily email question. How they answer determines how their "bloc" appears.
The project is intended to promote a digital art competition devised by Canon. Entries are invited in four categories: photography, graphics, movies and web design. The winner of each will receive a €20,000 prize.
Participants can find out more about the competition and keep track of their blocs via the website.
