A hospital in Waterford has stopped accepting admissions after a suspected outbreak of the so-called winter vomiting virus.
St Patrick's Hospital on John's Hill has shut after six patients and six staff members reported symptoms consistent with the Small Round Structured Virus (SRSV).
In a bid to curb the spread of the virus, the South Eastern Health Board has asked the public not to visit the hospital, unless it is an exceptional circumstance.
The outbreak comes as a further setback for the hospital, which has seen nurses engaging in a work-to-rule over staffing levels in recent weeks.
