Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira will be out for at least two weeks after his thigh injury flared up during their midweek Champions League defeat at Dynamo Kiev, the premier league leaders said today.
Vieira made his comeback from injury as a second-half substitute in Tuesday's 2-1 loss in Kiev and manager Arsene Wenger had hoped the France midfielder would also make Sunday's premier league game at Charlton Athletic.
But Wenger told the club's website: "Patrick has had a setback and he will be out again for a few weeks."I was cautious with him because we took the needed time. But as well maybe we were a little bit optimistic with him given the situation.
"We don't know what is happening with his muscle but he is not right and it will be at least two more weeks. He definitely misses this weekend, there is no doubt about that.
The club said Vieira is not expected to face Leeds United on November 1st and could also miss the return Champions League game with Dynamo Kiev (Nov 5th) and the north London derby with Tottenham Hotspur (Nov 8th).
