HONG KONG - Elderly Hong Kong war victims protested in front of government headquarters yesterday, urging the colonial administration to press Japan to compensate them for hardships suffered during the second World War.
Holding placards and chanting slogans, the group of 12 people said Britain would be irresponsible if it did not help them fight for compensation. "The British must clear this mess up before they go," said Mr Ng Yat-hing of the Reparation Association Hong Kong. Japan occupied Hong Kong from late 1941 to late 1945 during Britain's rule in the territory.
