Train services in the south and southwest have been disrupted today as over 300 train drivers have taken unofficial strike action over roster arrangements.

The services affected are the Tralee-Killarney and Tralee-Mallow routes. Iarnród Éireann is providing bus transfers for passengers on the routes affected.

Company spokesman Mr Barry Kenny said the dispute concerns a Labour Court recommendation on pay and rosters. The drivers have withdrawn co-operation from a roster arrangement in place until September to cater for the introduction of new drivers.

Mr Kenny said: "We are going to get in contact with the unions to urge them to get normal working arrangements resumed."

Two services were affected this morning. This evening’s 6.35 p.m. service from Heuston to Tralee will stop at Killarney, and there will bus connections from Killarney to Farranfore and Tralee.

All other train services are operating normally.

Iarnród Éireann’s information line: 1850 366 222.
