South Orange - A fire broke out at a Seton Hall University dormitory in New Jersey early yesterday as students slept, killing three people and injuring at least 62 in a tragedy some students and parents said could have been prevented if sprinklers had been installed.

Survivors said they believed it may have been started by someone smoking a cigarette in a lounge on the third floor.
