British authorities have warned that an alleged sex offender from Scotland may be in Northern Ireland.

British authorities have warned that an alleged sex offender from Scotland may be in Northern Ireland.

Fraser Benjamin McLaughlin (57) from Hamilton was last seen getting on a ferry to the North in May.

He has also been seen in Blackpool and Lancashire.

Britain’s Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre said he has broken his bail conditions over charges linked to child abuse images.

Mr McLaughlin, who is described as having "strong links" to Northern Ireland, is about 6ft tall with greying red hair and a small moustache. He may also wear glasses.

He is diabetic and has a heart condition.

Detective Inspector David Tassie of Strathclyde Police said the force has been working closely with partners in Scotland, England and Northern Ireland to trace him. "I would appeal to anyone with information to contact police."

The PSNI is searching for the man and gardaí have also been alerted.
