Police in Britain last night charged a 14-year-old boy with the murder of Joe Geeling, an 11-year-old schoolboy whose body was found in a park in Bury, Greater Manchester, earlier this week.
"A 14-year-old boy from Bury has tonight ... been charged with murder ...," police said in a statement, adding that the boy would appear before magistrates on Monday.
Geeling's body was found in a gully in the park on Thursday, the day after he was last seen alive as he walked home from school.
Earlier, his headmaster Eddie Robinson described Geeling, a cystic fibrosis sufferer, as "a lovely well-mannered boy" who would be greatly missed by his teachers, friends and fellow pupils.
