Two women were covered in tar in Belfast yesterday after three hooded men forced their way into a house in west Belfast.

Three children were in a house in the Hopewell Crescent area when the attackers broke into the house at 7 p.m. after smashing windows.

They were not hurt but the men threw a jar of tar over the two women in the house and threatened them. The gang escaped toward the loyalist Shankill estate.

A PSNI spokeswoman said detectives have not established a motive.
