Two charged in NI over child sex

Two men were last night charged with sexually assaulting children in Belfast.

Two men were last night charged with sexually assaulting children in Belfast.

The charges against the men relate to separate incidents alleged to have taken place in different parts of the city in the last few days.

Both are due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court in the morning.

A 70-year-old man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault against children and one of engaging in a sexual activity in the presence of children, said a PSNI spokeswoman.

Police said the charges followed incidents in the north of the city last Friday and had been brought against the man by detectives from the Child Abuse Investigation Team.

A 31-year-old man was charged with sexual assault on a child and a second charge of the sexual activity of an adult towards a child. The charges against him relate to incidents said to have taken place in the Cromac Street area of south Belfast yesterday.
