The Government has named two new members to be appointed to the Flood tribunal.

Ms Mary Faherty and Mr Alan Mahon, both Senior Counsels, were appointed in response to a request by Mr Justice Feargus Flood last June for assistance in dealing with the volume of material before the tribunal.

A third barrister, Mr Gerald Keys, has been named as a reserve member of the tribunal. He will sit if another member is unable to sit.

The three cannot be formally appointed until they are made Circuit Court Judges, which will require and amendment to the Constitution increasing the number from 24 to 27.
