A private financial services company in which the Progressive Democrats' national treasurer and trustee, Mr Paul MacKay, is a director has settled a case taken by two former employees at the Employment Appeals Tribunal.
Ms Mary Morton and Ms Lorraine McCue agreed settlement of their action for unfair dismissal and non-delivery of minimum notice against National Credit Finance Ltd, the directors of which are Mr MacKay and Ms Caroline Foran.
The settlement was announced at the Employment Appeals Tribunal yesterday in a hearing before Mr Dermot MacCarthy SC. Leave to re-enter applies until December 4th.
After the hearing Mr MacKay said he was forbidden from commenting on the terms of the settlement by a confidentiality clause.
He acknowledged that this was not the first time that the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment had been involved in an industrial relations case in relation to a company of his.
In addition to his posts at the Progressive Democrats, Mr McKay is listed as a director of 10 other companies including Telecom Eireann and the Irish Trade Protection Association.
