A young woman whose naked torso was found floating in a Scottish river had died within the previous 48 hours, British police revealed today.
The remains of the torso, found yesterday in the River Leven, Dumbarton, are believed to belong to a white female aged between 12 and 22, Strathclyde police said.
Detectives investigating the death said they were working with police hunting for missing Surrey teenager Amanda Dowler but said there was nothing to suggest a link.
Amanda (13) was last seen in March after setting off for home from Walton-on-Thames railway station in Surrey.
