Senator Ann Ormonde took the unusual step for a Government backbencher of calling a quorum in the Seanad on Wednesday evening. During the childcare debate she noticed there were only women in the chamber and this wasn't good enough. When the bells rang, the male members came rushing in. Seanad FG leader, Maurice Manning, however, gave his excuses to the Cathaoirleach and said he had to go home to read a bedtime story to his son.
