Three people were killed and a fourth is missing following a blast at a chemical plant in northern France early this morning.

Three people were killed and a fourth is missing following a blast at a chemical plant in northern France early this morning.

Emergency services said several people had beeninjured in the explosion that happened at around 6 a.m., local time, at the Nitrochimie plant at Haisnes near Billy-Berclau, in the Pas-de-Calais region.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
