Three charged over death of Wexford man

Three men have been charged in connection with the death of a man in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, more than a year ago.

Three men have been charged in connection with the death of a man in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, more than a year ago.

A 26-year-old local man was remanded in custody charged with the manslaughter of Jonathan Skerritt in the town on March 11th, 2003.

Mr Daniel Ryan, 12 Nolan's Lawn, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, appeared before Judge Donnchadh O'Buachalla at Enniscorthy District Court today. He was also charged with violent disorder on same occasion.

Mr Skerritt (24), Bog Road, Ballymurn, Co Wexford, died when he entered the River Slaney after an altercation. Two brothers, Mr Rodney Bernie (24) of Fr Murphy Park, Enniscorthy, and Mr Jonathan Bernie, (30) from Viking's Wharf, Enniscorthy, were both charged with violent disorder in relation to the incident.

Judge O'Buachalla remanded Mr Ryan in custody to Arklow District Court on April 7th. Mr Jonathan Bernie was also remanded to appear on the same date, while bail was granted to Mr Rodney Bernie to appear at Enniscorthy District Court on April 28th next.
