Gallipoli - Thousands of Turks, Australians and New Zealanders paid respects yesterday to the victims of the ill-fated Gallipoli campaign, amid prayers for an end to conflict.

Marking the 84th anniversary of the first World War assault, a Turkish guard of honour fired a salute off the tip of the Gallipoli peninsula as a bugler sounded the last post.
