A third person has died after a head-on car crash on the north Antrim coast on Thursday.

A third person has died after a head-on car crash on the north Antrim coast on Thursday.

He was driving a BMW that hit a Renault Clio near Portrush. Police said the driver is from the Newtownards area.

A PSNI spokesman said. "The man, who sustained injuries when the BMW he was driving was in a collision with a second car, died in hospital last night.

The passenger and the driver of the Renault died at the scene."

The latest victim was transferred from the Causeway Hospital to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

It is understood he suffered abdominal injuries and fractures in the accident.

The other two fatalities were Lynda Hunter (34) from Ransevyn Park, Whitehead and Jason Worthington (36) from Grove Road, Kells, Co Antrim.

Investigators have urged witnesses to contact police in Coleraine.
