The PSNI is investigating reports of shots being fired in the loyalist Tiger's Bay area of north Belfast last night.

A soldier was injured during stone throwing at Twaddell Avenue while the annual "Tour of the North" Orange parade was taking place.

Rival gangs of youths clashed, hurling bottles and stones, before the security forces brought the trouble under control.

In the early hours of the morning police were called to the loyalist Torrens Court area where a house had come under attack.

Windows in the house were smashed and a local resident claimed the occupants had to fight to get a nationalist crowd out of their hall after the front door was smashed in.
