A Dublin teenager repeatedly challenged armed gardaí to shoot him during a five-hour siege, a court has heard.
Judge Martin Nolan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday jailed Gavin Kemp (19), Castlepark, Tallaght, for three years after he pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and assault on a garda at Tymon Park, Tymon North Road, Tallaght, on November 11th, 2010.
Det Garda Eamon Ryan told Tara Burns, prosecuting, that up to 25 armed gardaí were involved in the “extremely emotionally and physically stressful” incident.
Kemp, who had an unarmed friend with him, repeatedly pointed the gun at gardaí and said if anyone came near him, there would be a “bloodbath”.
