Jonathan Woodgate, on trial for serious assault, said he had been involved in a fight with a group of Asians, team-mate Michael Duberry told a court today.
Duberry told Hull Crown Court that Woodgate had also said, minutes after the attack, that his friend Paul Clifford had "bitten one of the lads".
Woodgate and Clifford had earlier denied being involved in the attack which left Asian student Sarfraz Najeib with a broken leg and a fractured cheek and nose.

Woodgate, Leeds team-mate Lee Bowyer and two other men are charged with causing grievous bodily harm and affray in January 2000. They deny the charges.
Duberry, who faces a conspiracy charge, is the final defendant to give evidence.
