A "tourist watch" for protecting visitors from crime in Dublin during the summer was called for yesterday by Labour TD for Dublin Central, Mr Joe Costello. He suggested the watch could be set up jointly by the Departments of Tourism and Trade and Justice.

Personnel would wear a distinctive uniform and liaise with gardai, he said, adding that their presence on the streets would deter pickpockets, muggers and addicts.
